I've confiscated three love potions so far today. Thankfully brewed incorrectly, but this is just ridiculous. Besides being completely unethical, love potions are dangerous to the nervous and endocrine systems. There's a reason those potions are taboo. If I collect any more of these potions and if I find the person or persons making them, there will be repercussions.

And if I catch whomever put that Trojan on all the school computers and set the mice loose to chew all the wiring, it will not be pleasant. And the person who waxed the faculty stairs. And whomever put dirt in the coffeemaker in the faculty lounge.

Well. This school certainly has a sense of humour.

For those wondering, homework is still due tomorrow. As it wasn't designed to take all weekend to complete I see little reason in delaying it.

[ooc: Rupert spent the weekend as a British Shorthair tuxedo cat.]

As some might be aware, between grading assignments and keeping the school computers free of problems, I design video games. I need to run a few beta tests on one I just completed before I submit it for finalization, and for that, I need a half-dozen players. This will require roughly eight hours of your time divided over four two-hour sessions next week. I won't be asking you to do this for free either. All six volunteers will receive $50 at the completion of the testing and a copy of the finished game if they so wish (provided it's produced). If you're interested, please leave a comment.

They see me mowin'
My front lawn
I know they're all thinking
I'm so White N' nerdy

Think I'm just too white n' nerdy
Think I'm just too white n' nerdy
Can't you see I'm white n' nerdy
Look at me I'm white n' nerdy!
I wanna roll with-
The gangsters
But so far they all think
I'm too white n' nerdy
Think I'm just too white n' nerdy
Think I'm just too white n' nerdy
I'm just too white n' nerdy
Really, really white n' nerdy

The songs my journal has produced have been progressively more and more ridiculous.

First in my class here at M.I.T.
Got skills, I'm a Champion of DND
MC Escher that's my favorite MC
Keep your 40
I'll just have an Earl Grey tea
My rims never spin to the contrary
You'll find they're quite stationary
All of my action figures are cherry
Steven Hawkings in my library
My MySpace page is all totally pimped out
I got people begging for my top 8 spaces
Yo I know Pi to a thousand places
Ain't got no grills but I still wear braces
I order all of my sandwiches with mayonnaise
I'm a whiz at minesweeper I can play for days
Once you see my sweet moves you're gonna stay amazed,
my fingers movin' so fast I'll set the place ablaze
There's no killer app I haven't run
At Pascal, well, I'm number 1
Do vector calculus just for fun
I ain't got a gat but I gotta soldering gun
Happy days is my favourite theme song
I can sure kick your butt in a game of ping pong
I'll ace any trivia quiz you bring on
I'm fluent in Java Script as well as Klingon
Here's the part I sing on

This, is the most ridiculous yet.

Just spent the last three days cleaning various trojans out of the school computers. This is a general reminder to all students to not visit questionable sites while using school equipment. Also, if you think a machine is acting strangely, please report it immediately. The sooner an infection is known about the easier it is to remove.

Welcome to all my new students. I look forward to the semester with you. Please refrain from tinkering with the computers and there will be no problems. The IT staff spent most of the break giving the school computers a thorough look through, and we'd appreciate it if they stayed as near that condition as possible.

Damnit, something's brewing. No idea what it is yet, but there is definitely something going on. And then there's the fact my list of potentials is still non-existent. Maybe this... whatever it is that's coming will reveal a few.

[ooc: Just a reminder that Computer Applications and Computer Science are both only semester classes.]

Christmas was refreshing, aside from the fact I gained a cold from spending most of the day in a snow drift. Thankfully I seem to be mostly recovered from that. New Years looks like it will be somewhat eventful. It seems my other brother is dropping in.

private;

Damnit Si, if you're going to go chasing a centaur loose in Boston could you have not done it at this time of year? Still, a good percentage of the people on the street will likely be drunk and won't even remember if they do see anything. I'm going to strangle Rob.

[ooc: Rupert's gifts are here. Since Christmas, whenever he goes outside he's been wearing a scarf that looks like it was made by a 7 yr old... because it was :|]

Congratulations on making it through the semester. The grades for my classes have been posted. If anyone would like to discuss their grade with me, just leave a note and we'll set up a time to talk.

Will has unequivocally stated I am to spend Christmas Day in Thule with him, Carina, and the girls. Can't say I'm upset as Carina's cooking is divine and it has been a while since I've seen the girls. And it will be nice to give them their gifts in person. They will probably have a nice blanket of snow as well, which I hope will make the new sled a big hit.

[ooc: pftttt who's in Rupert's classes anyway? i can't remember.]

Somehow I managed to forget to order my ticket for the Emerson String Quartet performance tomorrow night before the best seats were taken. A mid-level seat will have to do. For students interested in classical music, I would very much suggest this concert.

Last reminders:
Computer Applications: Assignment #4 for Access is due tomorrow at the beginning of class.
Computer Science: Assignment #5 for Java is due tomorrow at the beginning of class.

The first week of tutoring has gone well. Hopefully you students are finding it to your liking. If you ever have any suggestions as to how I can better help, feel free to let me know.

Do enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday.

private;

No idea who to even start considering for the list. The Upper Room really should have picked someone that actually works as a teacher for this. I'm limited in which students I come in contact with. Maybe I should have said I taught history and fabricated matching qualifications. But someone might have sniffed that out.

Finally tracked down the last of the rat damage from Halloween. It was interesting just how many wires they were able to chew their way through. With that done, I can finally start a program I conceived shortly after arriving here.

I have noticed that a number of students come from backgrounds that provide little or no experience with computers. Starting this Friday I will begin having after-school and weekend tutoring sessions. This is open to all students, even if they are currently in a computer class.

The content of the tutoring sessions is up to the student. If you have particular questions, we can focus on those. If you need a crash course in all things computers (this includes the pocket journals) I can give one. If know or find you would like regular tutoring sessions that can be arranged.

30 and 60 minute tutoring sessions will be available. The sign-up sheet can be found on the wall next to my office and you can also contact me through the journals for a time slot. For a 30 minute session, sign your name next to your preferred time. For a 60 minute session, sign your name next to two consecutive times. The number of tutoring sessions you sign up for are unrestricted, though I will ask you only sign up for one per week.

[ooc: do comment if your character is going to do the tutoring~]

I expect to see my students returned to class as soon as possible. I am perfectly aware of the extent of the injuries sustained and some should already be back. Please do not use last week's events as an excuse to skip; it will affect your grade.

Last week's midterm has been scheduled for Friday, so be sure to go over the review.

private;

Well. I guess that explains the extra week worked into the schedule.

The hellmouth. THE BLOODY HELLMOUTH. Sure, they briefed me it was there, but they failed to mention the whole unstable part. Thank you ever so much Upper Room. I would think with all the things you're guiding in the Multiverse you wouldn't be so hard-up on entertainment. This was supposed to be a less stressful assignment than last time. Why do I get the feeling it's not going to be?

Please do not touch the frozen students around campus. Any student that has been turned into a vampire and seeks to harm a fellow student will be placed in stasis until a more permanent solution can be found. And I do NOT mean staking.

Also, as class attendance has been... spotty at best, the mid-terms are postponed until next week.

[ooc: :| if you wish for your character to have been stasis'd, feel free to say so tomorrow ... they will be VERY uncomfortable though =D Rupert's stasis simply holds them in place. Imagine standing on one foot with your arms stretched out, and not being able to move from that position for several hours. He'll lift it just enough to allow them to reposition themselves occasionally, but that's it. So anyone that gets stasis'd will be SORE tomorrow and will need to see the school doctor for bad muscle cramps.]

Well. This is going to cost a bit to repair. A quarter of the wiring in the computer labs has been chewed through. Once I finish dispatching the overly large rats here, I'll see if I can't do something about the rest of them.

private;

Well. This explains the precog. The Upper Room mentioned the school was prone to uncontrolled magical fits, but they really could have explained it better.

[ooc: Any rat Rupert finds will be put under stasis. It will still be breathing, but unable to move even an inch. Enjoy your rat statues for the rest of the evening and please refrain from putting your hand in their mouths. There's not need to tempt fate.]

I think I've settled in rather well since last week. I even found a nice computer store that will suit my needs. It's not quite as good as the one I use back home, but it will do. After the homework is all graded, I should be able to finish a couple projects and get them sent off tomorrow.

Just a reminder to my students, your mid-terms are coming up on Wednesday. Computer Applications, study chapters 1-10. Computer Science, study chapters 1-5. Both exams will be multiple choice and 50 questions long.

private;

Precog's been going off all day. Sent a few emails off to 'check' on everyone, but so far things seem to be normal. Better keep my eyes open. Halloween's coming up and people are prone to doing stupid things around then. I'll have Jean check on any local covens. Do not need a salamander incident in Boston.

As your previous Computer Applications/Computer Science teacher had to take a leave of absence, I'll be taking his place for the remainder of the semester and possibly next semester as well. My name is Rupert Venables, please just call me Mr. Venables. I'll just be picking up with where your previous teacher left off with the Office programs and CSS.

Computer Applications: Assignment #2 for Excel will be due Friday at the beginning of class.
Computer Science: Assignment #2 for CSS will be due Friday at the beginning of class.

Just how am I supposed to do this? Last time I had a list to work from. This time I'm making the list. How did Stan make that list? There I go again, trying to rely on someone else when I'm supposed to be figuring this out myself. Still, sometimes I miss that disembodied voice.
